UTOPIA
PARDES GRADUTE EXHIBITION
SEPTEMBER 2023 | CURATOR: RAYA BRUCKENTHAL
Aesthetics and holiness are two lines that will converge at some future point. Everyone is waiting for the moment of explosion—the unexpected outcome that will emerge from the fusion of these two powerful elements. Such fluctuations and encounters have already occurred in the history of the young state of Israel, which carried a European essence, during a time when everyone was certain that summer had ended and a happy resolution was imminent. In this exhibition, I draw from historical moments to propose a vision of a futuristic utopia that blends both the religious and the aesthetic. Questions that were never asked before now receive contemporary interpretations: In what vehicle will the Messiah arrive? What brand will He wear? What will the Temple look like?
